TANGLA: High decibel loudspeakers used by some religious organizations day and night in and around Tangla town continuously for the past couple of days has caused great inconvenience to people, especially elderly people and students who are preparing for HSLC and HS examinations. A Tangla based NGO, Human Rights Forum lodged a complaint in this regard at Tangla police station on Thursday citing rule 5 of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2005 which clearly mentions that no high volume loudspeaker can be played between 10 pm and 6 am.
“It has become a nuisance, especially when they play loud songs during late night and also early morning,” said general secretary of the forum, Bhupen Goswami. President of the forum, Sailen Kumar Sarma said that most of the people hesitate to complain about any high-decibel audio for fear of being called anti-religious or being subjected to ridicule by social groups.
