Low-key Vishwakarma Puja celebration in Dhekiajuli amidst COVID pandemic.

DHEKIAJULI: Mahalaya was celebrated in Dhekiajuli on Thursday amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. People from all walks of life thronged the roadside of NH-15, Dhekiajuli town to welcome Goddess Durga on Thursday morning.

Early in the morning on Thursday, it was observed that most of the people who came out from their homes to observe Mahalaya did not maintain COVID-19 protocol. People, especially youths, who came out on the roadside of Dhekiajuli town totally violated COVID-19 protocol. On the other hand, Vishwakarma Puja was also celebrated in Dhekiajuli on Thursday. For the first no decoration was seen, nor were puja pandals erected in any part of Dhekiajuli town due to the pandemic situation. Only rituals of Viswakarma Puja were performed in the garages of Dhekiajuli town.
