Lumding Police Seizes 40 Kg Cannabis, Suspected Pedler Apprehended

The apprehended peddler is expected to be presented before the Shankardev Nagar Court.

LUMDING: Lumding has been a hotspot for illegal trade for some time now and it is evident from the fact that such items have been caught several times in the locality. In yet another incident of the same category, Lumding police were able to capture a good amount of narcotic substances.

Acting based on specific inputs, a team from the Lumding Police Station carried out an operation near the Lumding Railway Station on the morning of Thursday. They were able to seize a total of 40 kilos of cannabis. They were also able to apprehend a suspected pedler regarding the incident.

According to the police, this consignment was transported from Dimapur and was on its way to Bihar by train when it was confiscated by the police. The identity of the suspected peddler was revealed to be Bhola Keot from Kheroni in Lanka. The price of the narcotics is expected to be around Rs 4 lakh according to the police. And the apprehended peddler is expected to be presented before the Shankardev Nagar Court.

Previous, in yet another success in the war against narcotics by the state administration of Assam, a team from Lumding Police was able to apprehend two suspected drug peddlers a few days back. A team from Lumding Police carried out an operation in the Samajbari region of Lumding based on specific inputs. The operation led to the capture of two suspected peddlers whose identities have been revealed as Pariksht Pal and Sameer Deb. Both the suspects are residents of the Refuge Colony of Lumbing according to police officials. They also had reports that these two men were involved in supplying narcotics to people at different localities of Lumding. A small among of narcotics was also confiscated by the police team during the operation.
