KOKRAJHAR: The Executive Member (EM) of BTC, Ranjit Basumatary, who was the general secretary of the disbanded NDFB (S), has asserted that former hardcore member of the outfit, M. Batha who has now reportedly gone back to the jungle with some of his colleagues, was being used as political tool by a certain political party in the region.
Talking to reporters in Kokrajhar on Tuesday, BTC EM Basumatary said that the fleeing of M. Batha and alleged floating of a new outfit was a big blunder. He said that the stakeholders of the 3rd Bodo Accord were trying to implement all the clauses of the accord in letter and spirit but the sudden disappearance of M. Batha was not a good sign for the society. He also said that the new outfit named National Liberation Front of Boroland (NLFB) under M. Batha had no ideology, constitution, discipline, morality and vision, rather it was being run under someone's dictate and was being used as a tool of a certain political party.
Basumatary said that Batha had gone back to the jungle under someone's direction for money. He said that if Batha had concern for the smooth implementation of the clauses of the BTR Accord, he would not have gone back to the jungle. He said that the new outfit had asked people not to support national political parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and had appealed to them to vote for a regional political party having no connection with the national parties. "This has proved that Batha has links with a certain political group and is working under the dictate of someone to fulfill his political interest," he said.
EM Basumatary also alleged that minister Chandan Brahma played a role in splitting the NDFB factions and he was 'misusing' the Bodoland People's Front (BPF). He said that Batha should come back and take part in the implementation of the Accord rather than get used as a tool.
