BOKO: A major fault in road construction under the Public Works Road Department (PWRD) has come to the light in Jarapara village in Boko.
A 1.15 kilometer long road under the Boko territorial road subdivision has been constructed by a contractor under the Prime Minister Gram SadakYojna (PMGSY) scheme. The PMGSY road was constructed between Dakuapara to 2 No. Dakuapara village (package no. AS.11.467) with the amount of Rs 161.84 lakh and the construction works had finished on June 27, 2020. In this road, a Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) beam bridge has also been constructed under the scheme, but the fault came to light when a portion of the bridge collapsed and a big hole was created.
Local people of the area were also shocked after seeing the hole and they slammed the PWR department and the contractor for such poor construction of road. People also alleged that the contractor had not properly filled up the road sides and due to this poor construction, the road condition would worsen. The road is connected with NH-17 to Boko Primary Health Centre and many villages with NH-17, i.e. Jarapara, Tepchiya and Milanpur.
