Man killed in elephant attack at Jalukbari under Chhaygaon LAC

A 70 -year old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Jalukbari under Chhaygaon LAC in Kamrup district of Assam.

PALASBARI: A 70 -year old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Jalukbari under Chhaygaon LAC in Kamrup district of Assam.

The person, identified as Girendra Rabha, was attacked by the wild elephant at Jalukbari in Chhaygaon, in the early hours on Tuesday. Injured Rabha was rushed to the hospital but the doctors declared him dead. Some locals said that the forest department has not taken any measures to prevent elephant-human conflict. On the other hand, a herd of wild elephants entered the Rangamati area under Palasbari LAC in Kamrup district and created terror among the villagers for the last few days. The wild elephants destroyed houses and agricultural crops of the villagers. This is not the first time that wild elephants have entered the village. Wild elephants come to this area several times in a year and destroy crops and houses.
