Man Sentenced to 20 Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Raping Minor in Goalpara

A Man named Mobinchan Marak has been sentenced to jail for 20 years rigorous Imprisonment under the POCSO Act by judge Shubhrangshu Dhar in a special court in Goalpara for raping a minor girl.

GUWAHATI: The Judge of Special POCSO, (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act), Shubhrangshu Dhar passed a judgment for 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) to one, Mobinchan Marak for raping a minor, a six years old girl.

Notably, a rape case was filed against the accused Mobinchan Marak on 6 June 2019 for committing the dangerous crime of raping a minor girl.

The advocate of the rape victim, Sanjay Sarma informed the sources that Special POCSO Judge Shubhrangshu Dhar sentenced Mobinchan Marak to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the crime he committed in June 6, 2019. The advocate also said the rape case was filed against accused Mobinchan Marak for raping a six years old girl on 6 June 2019.

The special court in Goalpara has declared that the rape accused Mobinchan Marak was sentenced for the punishment for rape under section 376 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and penetrative sexual assault under section 4 of the POCSO, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The court has now come up with the strict and thorough punishment of imprisonment for the rape accused after two years of the crime committed.

Earlier in May this year, a POCSO Court in one of the districts of Arunachal Pradesh has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rupees 3,000 for raping a minor. The POCSO Act in different courts has been playing a major role to protect children from offences of sexual assault and sexual harassment and in providing justice to rape victims across the country.
