DIBRUGARH: Panic stricken voters of polling booths no. 105 and 106 at Maidumia Lower Primary School centre under 117 Lahowal LAC ran helter-skelter when a person threatened to kill them with a pistol. However, police, with the help of local people, arrested the person who later was identified as Dr Munin Pathak, a doctor in the Public Health Department.

According to local eyewitnesses, Dr Pathak was in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident. Police also seized his licensed pistol. The incident has raised several eyebrows as to how a government doctor entered the polling booths with a pistol in his hand. Meanwhile, under strict security, the polling in both the centres concluded successfully.
