Mangaldai Astro photographer Gautam Deka bags first prize in ISRO photography contest

Gautam Deka- a young photographer of Mangaldai with his specialty in Astro Photography, has won first prize in the ‘Moon Shot’

MANGALDAI: Gautam Deka- a young photographer of Mangaldai with his specialty in Astro Photography, has won first prize in the 'Moon Shot' competition organized by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on International Moon Day.

Synchronizing with the International Moon Day on July 20 to mark the historic day of landing of US astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Collins on Moon in 1969, the ISRO had organized a photography competition on 'Moon Shot'. In the results of the competition declared on August 10 in the website of ISRO, Gautam Deka's name was seen at the top of the list.

Gautam Deka of Kalitapara of Mangaldai, a graduate in Architecture without any formal training in photography, switched over to photography in 2012 and to Astro Photography in 2013. Earlier, he won first prize in 'Magnificent Assam' photography and second prize in 'Traditional Assam' photography contest organized by Assam Tourism in 2015. He has taken wedding photography as his profession with his hobby in Astro Photography.
