DIGBOI : The fleeing son of the prime accused in Margherita rape and murder case, Anan Tati, surrendered before the Margherita police here on Monday morning. One of the sons of the accused had been escaping the clutches of the investigating team handling the Margherita rape and murder case. He was reportedly escaping since May 3.
The police has been interrogating the teen and trying to ascertain whether or not the absconder was involved in committing the crime. The parents of the surrendered teen were already booked as per the appropriate sections of the law based on material evidences including the admittance of the act of committing the henious crime by both the accused. A minor girl was earlier raped and murdered brutally while the victim was staying at the accused’s residence after watching a bihu function.
Meanwhile, the prime accused who had earlier tried to evade arrest was encountered sustaining leg injuries and his wife too being the accomplice in the crime was also arrested.
However, with the surrender of one more suspect in the case, it is expected that police would get some more material evidences and statements so as to ascertain the exact nature of the rape and gruesome murder as admitted by his father Anan Tati and mother Ganga Tati alias Mini. It is significant that Tinsukia SP had earlier denied the possibility of gang rape in the case. The investigation into the case is being monitored directly by DGP Asaam.
