Markets declared closed in Biswanath district due to surge in COVID-19 cases

Since a large number of COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in Biswanath district

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Since a large number of COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in Biswanath district, the Deputy Commissioner and chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Biswanath, Pranab Kumar Sarmah has ordered for closing of Biswanath Chariali daily bazar and Bou Bazaar, Kamargaon exercising the powers conferred upon him under Section 34 (c), 34 (m)of Disaster Management Act, 2005 in order to prevent the apprehended danger to human life, health and safety and also to ultimately contain the spread of COVID-19 outbreak by way of restricting gathering in public places. This order came into force from Tuesday until further order. Any person violating this order will be prosecuted under relevant provisions of laws, the order said.
