* Government urged to provide relief materials to masses

LAKHIMPUR: Activists of MASS (Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti) distributed food items among 120 needy families of Lakhimpur on Wednesday.
The heads of these families earn their bread as street vendors. But now, such families have been been severely hit by the adverse situations caused by COVID-19 pandemic and also the over three week-long total lockdown imposed in Lakhimpur district. Due to the closure of their businesses , the street vendors are finding it hard to make the both ends meet.
The activists of the organization, led by its State secretary Raju Singha in association with members of the Lakhimpur district unit, distributed 10 kilogram of rice, four kilogram of potatoes, one kilogram of dal, and 500 gram of salt to each family. The programme was organized near the Lakhimpur District Veterinary Office campus located in North Lakhimpur town.
Also present on the occasion were the general secretary of All Assam Unemployed Association Jiban Rajkhowa; Lakhimpur MASS chairperson-in charge Sumu Dutta, secretary Ibrahim Ali and other dignitaries.
MASS State secretary Raju Singha appreciated Chand Ratan Rathi, Manohar Lakhotiya and Narendra Maheswari for extending cooperation to conduct the programme.
