Mass gathering prohibited during Bakri Eid in Golaghat

The District Magistrate, Golaghat issued a prohibitory order on Wednesday on mass gathering during Bakri Eid.

GOLAGHAT: The District Magistrate, Golaghat issued a prohibitory order on Wednesday on mass gathering during Bakri Eid. In an order no.GMJ.1/2020/Covid-19/ dated July 29, 2020, it was stated that a communication was received from the government prohibiting religious gathering in view of present wide-scale spreading of COVID-19 virus and a meeting was held with the religious leaders of the masjids falling under the jurisdiction of the Police Station in presence of civil and police officials in the last week of this month in view of celebration of the forthcoming Bakri Eid.

Based on the inputs and opinions of the officials who attended the meeting, Bibhash Chandra Modi, District Magistrate of Golaghat, decided to contain the further spread of coronavirus in exercise of power conferred upon him u/s 34(c) & (m) of National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and u/s 144 of CrPC and ordered that not more than 3-5 persons would be allowed inside the masjid to offer prayer. No mass gathering will be allowed inside the masjid premises, no sacrifice (kurbani) should take place publicly and if at all it takes place, it should be observed inside the premises of a household. Any sort of indulgence to public audience is not at all allowed, no prayer should take place as public gathering. This order comes into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further order.
