Guwahati: A massive landslide has disrupted road communication between Assam and Meghalaya along the National Highway No 6. Traffic has been the worst hit at Umkhen Thangshalai Bridge.
Along with Assam, the Shillong bypass also connects Tripura, Mizoram and Southern Assam (Barak Valley).
Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Deepak Kumar Palecha advised the drivers to use the Sohryngkham-Shillong road instead of the Shillong bypass. The citizens were also advised to drive only if it is necessary and to drive with utmost cautiousness. They have been requested to be alert for any signs of possible landslide all along the National Highway.
Further, the drivers, citizens or any commuters are asked to dial 108 for assistance.
