Massive yoga practice in Sivasagar on May 2

SIVASAGAR: A large yoga session will be held on May 2 at the historic Shiva Dol premises of Sivasagar and its vicinity.

In keeping with the celebration of International Day of Yoga, the 50th day of the 100th day Countdown of Yoga Practice programme will be organized by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India in Sivasagar. The yoga session is a national-level programme and the event will be conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and with the full cooperation of the Sivasagar district administration, informed Megha Nidhi Dahal, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar on Friday.

Addressing a press conference at Syukafa Conference Hall of the DC's Office, Dahal informed that about 5,000 people will practice yoga in the mega yoga event. Arrangements have been made for the implementation of the programme for 500 people at Shiva Dol premises and for the rest of the people on the adjoining roads of the Shiva Dol.

Apart from this, the ancient monuments Ranghar, Talatal Ghar, Joy Dol, Rudrasagar Shiva Dol, Thowra Dol and Kareng Ghar have also been made part of this programme. The programme will start at 7 am on May 2. Arrangements have been made for transportation for all participants in the program. All the practitioners of yoga of the neighbouring districts of Sivasagar will also take part in the yoga practice program on the day, informed the Deputy Commissioner.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH and former Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal and several other national leaders along with a number of Chief Ministers from the Northeast will be present on the occasion.
