Md Ajimullah Saikh wins hearts of local Hindu families in Assam

Boko: Ninety-five year old Md. Ajimullah Saikh, resident of Turukpara village under Boko LAC in the Kamrup district, has won the hearts of the people of his area. Saikh recently donated his 1.5 katha patta land to Hindu families to be used as a cremation site.

Indrajit Boro, advisor of Turukpara village, said, "We will always be grateful to Md. Ajimullah Saikh as he has donated his land for use as a cremation site, even though he follows another religion. Earlier, there was no cremation site in the area so Hindu people faced problem in cremation. Now, Md. Ajimullah Saikh has donated land which will be used for cremation.". Around 300 Hindu families, 30 Muslim families and 10 Christian families live together in Turukpara village. Saikh has five sons and three daughters, and all of them agreed for this donation. Arif Hussain, Saikh's younger son said that in their area, people of different religious faiths live together in peace and harmony.

"Local Hindu families faced difficulties during cremation due to lack of proper land. When the local people requested for land, my father donated land for cremation," Arif said. About 60 years ago, Saikh had donated 10 bighas of land to the State Government for the State Veterinary Hospital in Boko.
