Meat shops sell meat in an unclean environment, Barpeta DC takes action

As per the order of the Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, Tej Prasad Bhushal, the district administration launched operation in some meat shops for selling meat in a filthy environment.

BARPETA: As per the order of the Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, Tej Prasad Bhushal, the district administration launched operation in some meat shops for selling meat in a filthy environment.

If butchers' shops are not kept clean, it may lead to many diseases. Hence the Deputy Commissioner took initiative and ordered the municipality officials and veterinary department to make the people aware about health and hygiene and how to sell meat. In Barpeta Bazar area, Muslimpatty, Metuakuchi and Bheragaon, operation was launched in 20 such shops and among them 7 shops were sealed and an amount Rs 16,000 was collected as fine.

The Deputy Commissioner strictly ordered the veterinary department to also check the shops and make sure whether the meat was of good quality or not. Moreover, some of the shops have been selling meat without any license.
