Media fraternity extends helping hand to fire accident victims in Digboi

Five families which were rendered homeless in a devastating fire incident in Digboi’s Itavata area on Monday morning

DIGBOI: Five families which were rendered homeless in a devastating fire incident in Digboi's Itavata area on Monday morning, were provided with immediate relief here on Tuesday afternoon.

The mediapersons of the newly-constituted Digboi Journalists' Union, reached out to the five displaced families and distributed various essential items like edibles, utensils and clothes. These were handed over to the distressed families at the nearby Itavata LP School -a temporary relief camp arranged by Margherita Subdivisional civil administration immediately after the disaster.

Relief assistance was also provided by various other organizations and social workers of Digboi to encourage the affected family members who were mostly engaged as temporary workers and lived in rented houses which were engulfed in the inferno.

Meanwhile, Margherita civil administration has also been officially exploring all possible means to reach out to the displaced families and has been encouraging them to begin afresh with hope and determination.
