A CORRESPONDENT
LAKHIMPUR: The United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) expressed strong reaction regarding the non-designation of the Bodo language as a medium of question paper of the written exam, in other districts of Assam except the districts of BTR, to be held for the recruitment of 2391 posts of constable UB & 4271 posts of constable AB in Assam police as per advertisement published on April 25 on 2018.
Notably, as per the notice issued by the Director General of Police-cum-Chairman of SLPRB, Assam on November 9, the question paper of the written exam for the recruitment of 2391 posts of constable UB & 4271 posts of constable AB in Assam police will be in the English, Assamese and Bodo languages in Kokrajhar, Baksa, Udalguri and Chirang— the districts under BTR Range. On the other hand, the question paper of the same written exam will be in the English, Assamese and Bengali languages in Southern Range districts, viz— Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Dima Hasao. Similarly, the question paper will be in the English and Assamese languages for the rest of the districts of the State.
This notice has not designated the Bodo language as a medium of question paper in the rest districts of the State except the BTR districts. Under such circumstances, the UBPO alleged that the Bodo community youths would be deprived of the exam and good performance. At this, UBPO president Manoranjan Basumatary and general secretary Pitambar Brahma demanded the State Government and the Home Department to designate the Bodo language as the medium of question paper of the said exam in all districts of the State.
