Meet for ‘Cataract-free Doomdooma’ held in greater Doomdooma legislative assembly

Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala is preparing to launch a campaign titled ‘Cataract-free Doomdooma’ to free the patients suffering from cataract disease in the greater Doomdooma legislative assembly area.

DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala is preparing to launch a campaign titled ‘Cataract-free Doomdooma’ to free the patients suffering from cataract disease in the greater Doomdooma legislative assembly area. To discuss the implementation of the campaign, a preparatory meeting was held at the conference hall of Doomdooma Branch of ACMS office on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting MLA Gowala explained the campaign in detail. The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner of Tinsukia District Sushanta Dutta, District Project Manager of Tinsukia District Blindness Control Society Amulya Buragohain, Chairman of ABITA Doomdooma Circle Devarshi Bora, prominent doctor and social worker Dr. Pranabjyoti Deka, Lions Club of Doomdooma Tea City Secretary Arupjyoti Deka, Marwari Yuva Manch Doomdooma branch president Rohit Agarwal and Marwari Yuva Manch Doomdooma Pragati Sakha president Sneha Agarwal spoke and promised to give their full cooperation in the proposed campaign.

The meeting decided to conduct eye examination camps at 29 places in collaboration with Gaon Panchayats and tea estates under Doomdooma constituency and take the patients diagnosed with cataract to Dibrugarh for surgery. The first of these camps will be held on June 6 at Beesakopie Tea Estate Hospital.
