DOOMDOOMA: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Acting Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Manas Jyoti Nath presided over an important meeting on measures to be taken through Child Development Project Officers for the benefit of children, pregnant women and maternity mothers in flood relief camps. The meeting directed the Anganwadi workers to visit their respective designated relief camps along with the concerned ASHA workers and identify proposed child friendly places in consultation with the officers in charge of the camps. Child-friendly spaces must be hygienic as well as secured by boundaries and ensure they are away from toilets and cooking areas.

SDO in-charge ADC Manas Jyoti Nath directed that child-friendly places should be spacious and should have necessary space for play. Child friendly spaces should also have enough play equipment to keep the children engaged. It was also imperative to ensure the continuity of learning.

It was also ordered to provide them with black and white boards. The Anganwadi workers were also directed to work with the officers in charge of the camps to ensure that all child friendly places have basic facilities like hand washing facilities, clean drinking water and food service facilities. The SDO(Civil) directed the CDPOs and supervisors to visit the Anganwadi centres frequently to assess the situation. He urged the people to inform the sub-divisional administration immediately if they encounter any difficulties in the camps.
