Meet on development of tea garden schools held in Sonitpur district

A meeting was held on the development of tea garden managed schools under Biswanath and Gohpur subdivisions on Monday with Parliamentarian Pallab Lochan Das in the chair.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A meeting was held on the development of tea garden managed schools under Biswanath and Gohpur subdivisions on Monday with Parliamentarian Pallab Lochan Das in the chair. The meeting had a thorough discussion on the important issues being faced by around 42 tea garden managed lower primary schools under the two subdivisions in Sonitpur district.

Presiding over the meeting, Parliamentarian Pallab Lochan Das commented that primary education is the key to building the future life of children, hence it is very much essential to give priority to fulfil the educational needs of them. The present State government has given much importance to it and therefore it has decided to appoint teachers and also to provide other basic amenities in the tea garden schools, he added. He expressed the hope that the children of the tea gardens would also be able to shine in every field like other children.

A good number of major decisions were taken in the meeting. These included the change in school start timing to 7-30 am from the new academic session i.e. 1st of April this year, creation of clusters covering all the schools in the tea gardens, provision for imparting training to teachers under SSA and others. Speaking at the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner and i/c SDO (C), Biswanath Jay Shivani informed that special monitoring groups under the supervision of magistrates would be formed for each education block to keep vigil on the education scenario of the tea garden schools.
