Meet on National Deworming Day held in Nagaon district

NAGAON: A convergence meeting to review the status and implementation of the National Deworming Day in Nagaon district was held on Tuesday at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office, Nagaon. The meeting was chaired by Sauvik Bhuyan, SDO, Sadar. District programme manager of National Health Mission Anirban Borthakur apprised the meeting regarding the National Deworming Day campaign which has already been launched on October 16 and will continue till October 26. The campaign is particularly for children and adolescents between 1 to 19 years of age. Deworming tablets will be administered to all school going children in schools and ASHA and Anganwadi workers will be administering deworming tablets in all the anganwadi centres and through home visits so that everyone within the age group is covered. The parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their nearby ASHA/ANM for more details regarding the campaign.

Joint Director of Health Services, Nagaon Dr Arupjyoti Mahanta emphasized the meeting that although the campaign period is 11 days, the deworming service is an ongoing process. Discussions regarding preparations for the next round of Swasthya Sewa Utsav and registration in Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission were also held in the same meeting.

District Information and Public Relations Officer of Nagaon, Block Programme Managers, officials of National Health Mission, officials and other concerned stakeholders of the Health Department were present in the meeting.
