TEZPUR: A meeting on the ongoing process of Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls was held on Thursday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
The meeting held in the presence of representatives of various political parties discussed various pre-revision activities such as rationalization/ re-arrangement of polling stations; removal of discrepancies of DSEs and EPICs; removal of multiple entries/ dead electors, etc; verification of polling stations in consultation with political parties; among others. The meeting was chaired by District Development Commissioner and i/c Deputy Commissioner Farouk Alam. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Elections) Kulen Sarma explained in details to those present about the entire timeline set by the Election Commission of India for carrying out the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2021 as the qualifying date.
As per the timeline, rationalization/ rearrangement of polling stations will be carried out between August 10, 2020 to October 31, 2020 and the integrated draft roll is to be prepared by November 15, 2020. The integrated draft roll will be published on November 16, 2020. Any claims and objections can be filed between November 16 and December 15, 2020 and all such claims and objections will have to be disposed by January 5, 2021. The final publication of the electoral roll will be done on January 15, 2021. The political parties were asked to submit names of booth level agents as soon as possible for carrying out the rationalization process of polling stations at the earliest.
