A meeting on tea factory safety measures with garden managers was held at Labour Inspector office, Khoirabari with tea garden managers of Udalguri district.

TEZPUR: A meeting on tea factory safety measures with garden managers was held at Labour Inspector office, Khoirabari with tea garden managers of Udalguri district. Sanjay Kissan, Labour Welfare Minister is taking all initiative to stop accidents in the tea factory. As a part of that Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, Medical Inspector plantation, Tezpur (MIP) organized an awareness meeting with all tea garden managers of Udalguri district in the presence of factory Inspector A Das, Labour Inspector Dhrubajyoti Bora and other dignitaries.

During the programme, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar advised all the garden managers to follow all safety rules as per Factory Act. Dr Lahkar laid stress on regular awareness among the factory workers on safety measures and their regular health check up and keeping records. The Factory Inspector highlighted the details on safety rules and precautionary measures to be taken in the tea factory and also urged all the managers to keep safety officers in the factory.

Dr Lahkar also informed that under the guidance of Labour Minister Sanjay Kissan, the Labour Welfare department has formed task forces in every district comprising Labour Welfare department, Factory department, PF and ESIC Department to visit tea gardens. In the meeting, representative of workers’ union like ACMS was also present and they appreciated the efforts of Labour department to sensitize tea garden authorities to prevent accidents in tea factories.
