Meeting held for implementation of Mission Indradhanush

KOKRAJHAR: A meeting of the District Task Force committee, Chirang on Mission Indradhanush and National Immunization Day was held in the conference hall the Deputy Commissioner's office on Friday.

During the meeting, which was presided over by Narendra Kumar Shah, Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, Dr. Hiren Gogoi, Surveillance Medical Officer of World Health Organization, Bongaigaon region underlined details about Mission Indradhanush and Upcoming National Immunization Day.

Under the Mission Indradhanush programme, all 0- 2 years of age children and pregnant women will be immunized. The Mission Indradhanush, which is going to be started from February 7, 2022 in the district, will be held in three phases like February 7 to February 15, March 7 to March 15 and April 4 to April 12, 2022. Accordingly, the district administration has decided to immunize 648 children and 138 pregnant women in the first phase. In his speech, Dr. Debananda Banikya, Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer, Chirang spoke about the Pulse Polio Immunization campaign to be carried out in the district. He informed that the district had planned to give polio drops to a total of 69,513 children of 0-5 years of age on February 27 at all the designated polio centres and on February 28 and March 1, 2022 by visiting house to house.

In order to implement the programme smoothly in the district, Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah requested the District Social Welfare Officer and Inspector of Schools to extend their cooperation to the district health department. He also requested the health department's officials to give focus on high risk areas for proper implementation of these two programmes. Bijni Civil Subdivisional Officer Rahul Gupta, heads of departments, doctors and officials of the health department were present in the meeting.
