KOKRAJHAR: The district administration of Kokrajhar on Tuesday held a meeting at the DC's conference hall on the smooth implementation of Arunodoi scheme with Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Phukan in the chair. State Social Welfare and Soil Conservation Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, MLAs Rabiram Narzary and Majen Narzary also attended the meeting.

Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Phukar briefed about the new Arunodoi scheme for poor families, basically run by women earners. He said the district administration was taking up the matter for smooth implementation of the new scheme and added that the process of selection of beneficiaries would be carried out soon.

Talking to reporters, Pramila Rani Brahma said that the State Government was going to implement the new Arunodoi scheme meant exclusively for poor and economically vulnerable women across the State. She said each poor woman would directly get Rs 830 per month to be effective from October 2. She also said that 15,000 women beneficiaries would get this opportunity in each constituency.

Brahma said that there should not be any politics in the selection of beneficiaries as the scheme was meant for poor families run by women. She hoped that genuine beneficiaries would reap the benefit of Arunodoi scheme and receive money directly in their accounts.
