Meeting of vigilance and monitoring committee for PDS held in Nagaon district

A meeting of the District-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee for the purpose of supervising and monitoring the functioning of (PDS) in Nagaon district was held on Wednesday at the DC’s conference hall here.

NAGAON: A meeting of the District-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee for the purpose of supervising and monitoring the functioning of Public Distribution System (PDS) in Nagaon district was held on Wednesday at the DC’s conference hall here.

District Commissioner-cum-DLVMC chairman Narendra Kumar Shah chaired the meeting. During the meeting, ADC and in-charge of FCS&CA, P Hrangchal laid out the objective of the meeting and reiterated the department’s commitment in making sure that the items under PDS reach the actual needy persons. It was followed by a short presentation by DDS following which issues such as irregularities by agents in Fair Price Shops or in GPSS, selection of new beneficiaries under NFSA ’13, distribution of kerosene oil etc. were discussed.

DC-cum-Chairman, DLVMC Nagaon urged all members to inform the authority concerned regarding any matter under PDS that needs to be discussed so that the administration can formulate practical solutions for tackling the said issues.

The meeting was attended by representatives of MLAs of legislative constituencies of Nagaon, chairpersons of Nagaon, Kampur, Dhing, Raha Municipal Boards, chairperson of Nagaon Zilla Parishad, presidents of Bajiagaon, Khagorijan, Raha, Juria, Rupohi, Pakhimoria Anchalik Panchayats, Assistant Commissioner from Kalibor, Zilla Parishad members, ASWC member, DRCS, Food Safety Officer, Station Superintendent, Haibargaon Railway Station and other officials concerned from FCS&CA and FCI among others.
