Meeting on group hospital and referral patients in tea gardens

TEZPUR: Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, Special member of medical advisory board of plantation workers and MIP Tezpur, convened a meeting at the Assistant labour commissioner's office zone III, Tezpur to discuss the referral patients of tea garden workers and staff in Sonitpur, Biswanath and Lakhimpur districts on Wednesday.

In the meeting, representatives of workers and staff representatives, ABITA and TAI were present. During the programme Dr Lahkar directed all the garden managers through their association to follow all government directions strictly in case of referral cases from tea gardens. He urged the management to refer serious patients to government designated hospitals till the group hospital is not established as per government notification.

Dr Lahkar also requested the representatives of workers to extend their support and cooperation to prevent vector-borne diseases in the garden and the management was directed to take all precautionary measures to control all vector-borne diseases in the garden. Representatives of ABITA and TAI appreciated and assured that they would advise all the garden managers to follow the government notification properly. Earlier, attending the programme, Assistant Labour Commissioner, zone III, Rupali Pegu advised the management not to use PF advance for treating workers. If required, management can give medical advances for non-entitled patients.
