Meetings held to create awareness among farmers in Goalpara district

With a view to bring awareness among the farmers of the district about the different schemes of the Agricultural department

GOALPARA: With a view to bring awareness among the farmers of the district about the different schemes of the Agricultural department, the Goalpara district Agricultural office on Tuesday, the day of Kati Bihu, arranged at least two meetings in two different villages. The first meeting was held at Chutki NC village which was inaugurated by Khanindra Chaudhury, Deputy Commissioner of the Goalpara district. Following the tradition, the ceremonial lamp under the Tulsi plant was lit by the DC which marked the religious beginning of the Kati Bihu celebration. About 1,101 earthen lamps and 20 sky lanterns were lit in the paddy fields on the occasion.

Dr Prakash Kashyap, one of the directors of the APDCL, and other PRI members were present at the event, besides Dr Anupam Sharma, DFO, Dr Haricharan Kalita, Scientist KVK Goalpara. About 500 progressive farmers took active part in the programme making it a very successful celebration. The same event was also organized at Dhekiabari village, Dirmajakhili GP where ADC Ranjit Konwar lit the ceremonial lamp. Jadab Swargiary, MLA-Dudhnoi 36-ST, and other PRI members took active part in the programme. The event included distribution of agricultural inputs and felicitation where five selected progressive farmers of each village were felicitated by the chief guest and the other important dignitaries.

Moreover, Maize seeds, Mustard Seeds, UV Film for Bamboo polly house, vermibed were some of the inputs which were distributed amongst 75 selected progressive farmers in both the villages.
