Memorandum submitted to Election Commission

Under the joint aegis of Indian National Congress, Bilasipara Block, Nayeralga Block Congress and Mahamaya Block Congress, a demonstration was organized in front of the SDO (Civil) office, in protest against illegal delimitation of Bilasipara assembly constituency.

BILASIPARA: Under the joint aegis of Indian National Congress, Bilasipara Block, Nayeralga Block Congress and Mahamaya Block Congress, a demonstration was organized in front of the SDO (Civil) office, in protest against illegal delimitation of Bilasipara assembly constituency. Several thousands of Congress leaders and workers participated in the demonstration and a memorandum was submitted to Election Commissioner through the SDO(Civil), Bilasipara. The memorandum stated that Bilasipara assembly constituency was created after independence under the name 36, Bilasipara Assembly Constituency and after 25 years the said constituency was divided into two constituencies i.e. 27, Bilasipara East LAC and 26, Bilasipara West LAC and since 1978 the constituencies were operating smoothly. The recent delimitation has abolished both the constituencies and created only one constituency under the name & style 10, Bilasipara LAC. The memorandum demanded status quo of the constituencies. The memorandum was signed by Sofikul Islam, president, Bilasipara Block Congress Committee and others.
