Merger of Amguri constituency opposed for delimitation of Amguri LAC

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Amguri Bidhan Parishad in Sivasagar district on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the secretary, Election Commission of India to protest against the draft proposal for delimitation of Amguri LAC, through the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner.

GAURISAGAR: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Amguri Bidhan Parishad in Sivasagar district on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the secretary, Election Commission of India to protest against the draft proposal for delimitation of Amguri LAC, through the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner.

In the memorandum signed by Bipul Chandra Borkatoky, president of AGP Amguri Bidhan Parishad, it was stated that Amguri LAC is the oldest and prestigious constituency compared to other constituencies in the Sivasagar district which was created in 1951. Amguri Bidhan Parishad strongly protested the merging of Amguri constituency with Nazira and Sivasagar, which would adversely affect in administrative set-up.

Earlier, besides political parties, on Wednesday as many as 50 organizations in the greater Amguri area strongly protested against the delimitation of the constituency.
