MANGALDAI: Finally the much-awaited 'Assam Micro Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme, 2021' has been inaugurated for Darrang district at Mangaldai on Saturday.
As per the commitment made by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during the assembly poll campaign, the State government with the aim to provide financial relief to 24 lakhs women beneficiaries belonging to the economically weaker sections of the State. In the first phase of the scheme, the borrowers who have regularly been repaying the instalments would be provided a one-time incentive of Rs 25,000 or the outstanding balance. This will be an incentive for them to continue the maintenance of good credit discipline. In the second phase of this scheme, the government would provide relief to those borrowers whose payments are overdue by 1 to 89 days and for those accounts which are overdue but not NPA. In the third phase, the stressed and destitute borrowers with their NPA accounts will be considered for providing partial or full relief based on the evaluation.
Taking part in the inaugural function of 'Assam Micro Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme, 2021' at Gandhi Maidan here, Guardian Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary offered an amount of Rs. 25,000 by cheque to 5,000 beneficiaries of the district on the first phase. 25,000 beneficiaries of the district would be offered their cheques at the block level in a phased manner.
Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarma, District Development Commissioner Subhalaxmi Deka, Sipajhar legislator dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi, former legislator Guru Jyoti Das also attended the function.
