Micro-finance incentive to 3,500 beneficiaries in Morigaon

MORIGAON: State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta and the State Water Resources, Information and Public Relation Minister Pijush Hazarika on Sunday attended the Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme, 2021 inauguration ceremony at Morigaon Tarunram field.

Addressing a total 3,500 women beneficiaries, State Water Resources, Information and Public Relation Minister Pijush Hazarika said that as per the commitment made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the assembly poll campaign, the State Government, with an aim to provide financial relief to 24 lakh women beneficiaries belonging to economically weaker section, has started the Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme, 2021.

In the first phase of the scheme, the borrowers who have regularly been repaying the instalments would be provided a one-time incentive of Rs. 25,000 or outstanding balance. This will be an incentive for them to continue the maintenance of good credit discipline. In the second phase of the scheme, the government will provide relief to those borrowers whose payments are overdue by 1 to 89 days and for those accounts which are overdue but not NPA. State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta offered an amount of Rs. 25,000 by cheque to 3,500 beneficiaries of the district in the first phase.
