Mid-day meal cooks and helpers demand pay hike, staged protest in Demow

DEMOW: The All Assam Primary and Upper Primary School Mid-Day Meal Cook and Helper Association protested in front of the Demow Circle Office on Thursday to demand hike in the monthly salary of mid-day meal cook and helper from Rs 1,500 to Rs 9,600.

The activists also demanded release of pending five months' salary of mid-day meal cooks and helpers. They also demanded pension and medical facilities. They shouted various slogans against the government. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Demow Circle Officer on Thursday regarding their various demands. In the protest programme, Trishna Nath, adviser of All Assam Primary School Mid-Day Meal and Helper Association, was present, among others.
