UDALGURI: The mid-term conference of Udalguri Shatadal Sahitya Sabha was held at Udalguri with a day's programme on Monday.

Kamala Kanta Sarma, the president of Udalguri Shatadal Sahitya Sabha, kicked off the programme hoisting flag which was followed by smriti tarpan by Bishnu Sarma Neupane, the vice-president of Udalguri Shatadal Sahitya Sabha. Jadav Chandra Sarma, the general secretary of Axam Xahitya Xabha, was present as chief guest. Gayatri Bhattarai, the president of Udalguri district Nepali Sahitya Sabha, Manik Chandra Sarma, the former president of Udalguri district Sahitya Sabha, Gautam Jyoti Talukdar, the former president of Udalguri Sahitya Sabha, and Akhil Kalita, the working president of Mangalchandi Memorial Language-Education-Cultural Research Centre, attended as guests of honour.

Dr. Kashyap Kumar Sarma was felicitated by the Udalguri Sahitya Sabha for completion of PhD. Dandi Ram Deka, the father of Hiren Kumar Deka, the APSC candidate, was also felicitated in that programme. Nareswar Deka, the national award winning retired teacher, delivered his speech on the occasion. Jadav Chandra Sarma, the general secretary of Axam Xahitya Xabha, insisted on creating readers for literature. The meeting was presided over by Kamala Kanta Sarma, the president, and Ajoy Kalita, the general secretary of Udalguri Shatadal Sahitya Sabha, conducted the session.
