‘Migrant Workers Day’ observed in West Karbi Anglong

DONGKAMUKAM:  For the first time the ‘Migrant Workers Day’ was observed at Satgaon Presbytery Hall Satgaon in West Karbi Anglong. Fr Joseph Teron, Vice Provincial of Guwahati Province, attended the programme as chief guest. The theme was “Your work your valuable contribution”.

“The most important thing is to always keep God in mind wherever you work, no matter how big or small. Your family comes second, followed by your own traditions. Saving money is another basic factor to remember,” Fr Teron said. Therefore, he stressed for small expenditure in city to save money for future needs.

Fr CA John Parish Priest of Satgaon Parish requested to remain faithful and loyal in life. Head teacher of Satgaon ME school Nitendra Cheran also gave a brief lecture. 80% of people attended from Mumbai and the rest were from Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi etc. An open interaction session was also organized. Several hundreds and thousands of migrant workers migrate to the big cities from Northeast. Over 443 individuals attended the meet. Later, Holy Mass was held followed by fellowship meal. The programme was also attended by Fr Albert Thyrniang, Fr Justin, Fr Charles Sangma Sister Mary Hasda and others.
