Minister Ajanta Neog discusses issues related to health department in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: State Finance and Social Welfare Minister Ajanta Neog chaired a meeting with the Health Department on Thursday evening at the conference hall of the Circuit House, Golaghat.

During the meeting, the minister discussed various issues related to the health department. The minister was briefed on the status of MCH building and the requirements associated with the shifting of maternity wing of Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital to the new MCH Building.

The minister took stock of the various health institutions that require repair and renovation. Few sub-centres which have infrastructure development requirements were brought to the notice of the minister.

The minister discussed the setting up of an incinerator and ETP soon in the district. The minister was also detailed on the vacancies of doctors and other staff. She assured that this matter would be taken up with the authority concerned.

Regarding the maternal and child health status in the district, the minister said that more focus needed to be given on making people aware, especially those in the tea garden areas. Speaking about the initiation of opening Anganwadi Centres in the tea gardens, the minister said that this hopefully would provide nutritional support along with education to children belonging to tea gardens.

The meeting was attended by ADC (Health) Pallavi Gogoi, Joint Director of Health Services, Dr Arun Chandra Mahanta, Superintendent of Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital, Dr Uttam Prasad Dutta, and others.
