Minister Chandan Brahma reviews COVID-19 situation in Mushalpur

TAMULPUR: State Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma visited Mushalpur on Saturday to review the COVID-19 medical facilities offered by the Health Department under the supervision of the district administration, as the new in-charge minister of Baksa district.

In a meeting held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner of Baksa, Ranjan Sharma, the minister took stock of the facilities in quarantine centres. He stressed immediate establishment of ICU in the District Hospital as well as in the three model hospitals of the district. He heard the problems faced by the health department like inadequate number of doctors as well as other health workers and scarcity of VTM kits for swab testing. In reply, the minister assured to take necessary steps in this regard.

There are around 1,200 inmates in 31 quarantine centres established by the district administration in the entire district.

Brahma asked BDOs to expedite and update the process of issuing job cards under MGNREGA. He also laid emphasis on engagement of migrated people under the various schemes of rural development. He also asked Circle Officers and Food and Civil Supply officials to speed up the distribution of rice to needy people. He asked officials to attend the next review meeting at Tamulpur which will be held next Tuesday. The meeting was attended by the Member of Parliament (RS) Biswajit Daimary, MLAs of Barama and Chapaguri, Maneswar Brahma and Thaneswar Basumatary respectively, Superintendent of Police of Baksa, Prateek Thube, ADCs S.Sirkar and Dilip Kumar Bothra and other heads of the departments of the district.
