Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates various schemes in Barpeta

State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday took part in the inauguration programme of various schemes in the Barpeta District Library premises.

BARPETA: State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday took part in the inauguration programme of various schemes in the Barpeta District Library premises.

Sarma formally inaugurated the schemes which included two special roads, one degree college, one girls' college and 100-bedded separate hospital for pregnant women and children at FAAMCH. Ranjit Kumar Das, chairman of Housefed and MLA of Sarbhog, Gunindra Nath Das, MLA of Barpeta, Sherman Ali, MLA of Baghbar, and Sukur Ali, MLA of Chenga, praised Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for his initiative in the progress of Assam.

The Chenga Model Girls' College will be established at the cost of Rs 33,67 crore, extra hospital for children and pregnant women in FAAMCH campus at the cost of Rs 2,561 crore, Baghbar Model College at Rs 11,45 crore, for Nakhanda river embankment reconstruction Rs 10 crore and another Rs 10 crore for Barpeta- Chenga-Bahari road construction.

The welcome address was given by Rajesh Kepra, Commissioner, Lok Nirman Department, and the vote of thanks was offered by Munindra Sarma, Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta.
