Kokrajhar: State Water Resources Minister Keshav Mahanta visited Mushalpur on Wednesday evening to take stock of the ongoing works of the Water Resources department in the district. He also took part in a review meeting at the conference hall of the DC office here.
The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of Baksa, Ranjan Sharma. Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department, Assam, Barsing Rongpi (WE), Executive Engineer Jiten Das, District Veterinary Officer, District Fishery Development Officer and other high-level officers were present in the meeting. The minister took stock of the ongoing repair of embankment in the district. He also discussed the situation of the vulnerable areas affected by flood of rivers Pagladia, Marapagladia, Puthimari, Suklai and Kaldia.
The minister laid stress on completion of repair work of embankment before the flood. He also asked officials to take necessary steps for the supply of fodder and fertilizers to farmers, to help farmers in selling vegetables and to ensure door-to-door supply of fish and chicken. He also asked officials to create awareness among masses to maintain social distancing during the lockdown period.
