Minister Parimal Suklabaidya launched Silchar Municipal Board Mobile App

Minister for Environment and Forest, Excise and Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya launched the Silchar Municipal Board Mobile App recently.

SILCHAR: Minister for Environment and Forest, Excise and Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya launched the Silchar Municipal Board Mobile App recently. Minister Suklabaidya launched the app in the presence of MLA, Dipayan Chakraborty, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, Superintendent of Police, Ramandeep Kaur and other dignitaries at Silchar Municipal Board auditorium.

The app, the first of it's kind in the State enables citizens to make seamless payment of hoarding tax, water charges, shop license fees, filing complaints and suggestions, tender information and notices and other services.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Suklabaidya said that the app will be useful and handy for the denizens of different wards under Silchar Municipal Board to pay online and to file complaints and to put forth their suggestions.

He said every stakeholder must involve themselves to make Silchar, the hub of Barak Valley, a clean and beautiful city. Suklabaidya said concerted efforts must be made to utilise the Rs.200 crore allocated for drainage and other infrastructure for Silchar way back in 2017-18. "Concerted efforts must be made and not through piecemeal efforts to make Silchar a clean and beautiful city, " quipped Suklabaidya.

The Minister thanked the district administration and the Silchar Municipal Board for taking a slew of initiatives to create awareness among the citizens to keep the city clean and beautiful.

Suklabaidya also asked the DFO, Cachar to plant more species of medicinal plants in the Bio Diversity Park at Dholai and to go in for plantations in Silchar city.

Executive Officer, SMB, Lalsim disclosed that scores of tax defaulters have been served notices which has resulted in the municipality garnering revenue above Rs one crore. She urged the citizens to pay taxes on time so that the municipality can offer amenities and improved services.

MLA, Chakraborty exuded optimism that the app would help to provide hassle-free online services to the citizens and mobilise revenue. He said that the district administration and the municipal authorities have been making efforts to make Silchar a clean, green and beautiful city. Being a local MLA, he assured of all possible help and support towards this end.
