SIVASAGAR: Fulfilling a long-felt need of the poor, marginal and middle-class families of this region, a free dialysis centre under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme of the National Health Mission, became operational at Sivasagar Civil Hospital located at Joysagar from Friday.
From now on kidney patients of this district will be able to avail the dialysis facility free of cost. With the opening of the free dialysis centre Sivasagar Civil Hospital, patients now will not have to travel to Dibrugarh to pay heavily for undergoing dialysis.
The Free Dialysis Centre was formally inaugurated by Minister of State, Urban Development Department (Independent), Health and Family Welfare Department, Pijush Hazarika in presence of Jorhat LS MP Topon Kumar Gogoi, Thowra MLA Kushal Dowari, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar, Dr. MS Lakshmi Priya, Superintendent of Police Amitava Sinha, Joint Director of Health Services, Sivasagar, Dr. Mukul Das and other dignitaries.
The minister in his speech urged upon the patients to avail benefit of the programme. At least 15 patients can avail the free services at the dialysis centre daily.
