Minister Pijush Hazarika takes stock of erosion in Udalguri district

Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika visited the Indo-Bhutan border villages under Paneri LAC in Udalguri district to take stock of the river erosion on Saturday.

TANGLA: Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika visited the Indo-Bhutan border villages under Paneri LAC in Udalguri district to take stock of the river erosion on Saturday. Hazarika who was accompanied by Paneri MLA and Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary and BTC Executive Members, Diganta Baruah and Sanjit Tanti visited Satiyapara village affected by Kulshi River, along with Soibari area affected by Bhola River. He also visited the Samrang area along the Indo-Bhutan border to have a first hand understanding of the river erosion. Minister Hazarika also directed the officials of the Water Resources Department present during the inspection to arrange porcupine dams and other necessary measures, without causing harm to the people living along the river at the earliest and promised the local people of formulating measures for a permanent solution to the river erosion issue.
