Minister Ranoj Pegu distributes land compensation to affected families

 Land acquisition for construction of DMCH and road from Dhakuakhana to Telijan

LAKHIMPUR: Education Minister-cum-Dhemaji MLA Dr Ranoj Pegu on Thursday ceremonially distributed the land compensation among the families who were affected while land was acquired for the construction of the Dhemaji Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and improvement and upgrade of road from Dhakuakhana to Telijan of Dhemaji district under Assam Mala Scheme. Cheques of the compensation were distributed to 157 families of the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ranoj Pegu said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would visit Dhemaji in the next month in order to lay the foundation stone of the two mega projects. "On the same day, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the Integrated Deputy Commissioner's Office of Dhemaji district. The incumbent Government of Assam, led by Himanta Biswa Sarma, has initiated strong steps to propel the motion of development in Dhemaji district more," Dr Pegu said. He added that the road leading to Dhemaji railway station from the proposed DMCH would be broadened. He appealed to the public to extend their comprehensive cooperation towards the steps taken to upgrade Dhemaji as one of the best cities of North Assam.

Attending the event, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah said that the works for the construction of NH-15 with four lanes in Dhemaji district would kick-start from the next year. He added that the construction of the Dhemaji by-pass as substitute to the NH-15 to avoid traffic congestion in Dhemaji town would also start on the same time

Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji, Asim Kumar Bhattacharya, in his welcome address of the event, said that the Government of Assam had already released a fund amounting to Rs. 25.18 crore to be compensated for the 114 bighas of land acquired for the construction of the DMCH at Khubslia-Hiloidari. On the other hand, 50 per cent of the fund amounting to Rs. 25.60 crore has been released for the compensation of 30 bigha land acquired for the implementation of the project titled as improvement and upgrade of the road from Dhakuakhana to Telijan.

The ceremonial programme was held under the management of Assistant Commissioner Trilina Taid, wherein Chief Executive Member of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council Tankeswar Sonowal, Chief Executive Officer of Dhemaji Zila Parishad Prafulla Deori and other officers of the district administration were present.
