KOKRAJHAR/BONGAIGAON: Minister for Handloom and Textile, Sericulture, Soil Conservation and Welfare of Bodoland department Urkhao Gwra Brahma on Tuesday distributed aids and assistive devices to divyangjan and senior citizens under assistance to disabled persons for purchase/fitting of aid/appliances (ADIP) and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) of the Government of India's Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in Chirang district.
During the programme held at Kajalgaon district parade ground, minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma distributed wheel chairs, axillary crutches, tripods, walking sticks, spinal support kits, walking folders, hearing aids, silicon foam cushion, and many other aids in the presence of Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumatary, Bijni MLA Ajay Kumar Ray, BTR Executive Member Ranjit Basumatary, Chirang Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah and Bijni Civil Sub-Divisional Officer Rahul Gupta.
In his address to the gathering, minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma said that such assistive devices initiative would tremendously help to empower Persons with Disabilities (PwD) physically, psychologically and socially. He also said that the present government had taken several steps for the welfare of the PwDs so that they could live a respectable life.
