MLA Jayanta Basumatary inaugurates bridge over Champa River Selekha

Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumatary inaugurated a wooden bridge measuring 60 metres over Champa River at Selekha in Kungring area which falls under his Sidli assembly constituency, on Friday.

KOKRAJHAR: Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumatary inaugurated a wooden bridge measuring 60 metres over Champa River at Selekha in Kungring area which falls under his Sidli assembly constituency, on Friday.

In his address to the public during its inauguration, Basumatary said that the bridge would directly benefit the people of around 10 villages of Kungring area. He informed that it was constructed after upgrading the previous bridge by widening and strengthening it under MLALAD (MLA Area Development) fund.

On May 27, he also inaugurated a bridge over Sampur River for the benefit of the people of Laimuti and its surrounding villages near the Indo-Bhutan border area.

Apart from that, on June 4, Basumatary also inaugurated the construction work for deflector at a cost of Rs 65 lakh under SDRF on Langkar River in Sidabari village of Amteka area with an aim to control the flood and erosion that are usually caused by the river every year during the rainy season.
