MLA Naba Kumar Doley laid foundation stone of cultural auditorium in Dhakuakhana

LAKHIMPUR: Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development and Cultural Affairs and Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley laid the foundation stone of the cultural auditorium at Matmora in Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district on Monday. The move for the establishment of this cultural auditorium has been undertaken by the Directorate of Culture under the State Government with the investment of a fund amounting to Rs 2 crore.

Taking part in the programme as chief guest, the minister said that Matmora had lost its cultural heritage after being affected by consecutive waves of ravaging flood till 2010.

"The life of the people and the manifested culture of the place have flourished again due to no flood problem in the area for the last 10 years. A section of people goes astray if they remain refrained from cultural practice and sporting activities. I hope this project will fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people of the area with regard to their cultural enhancement," said the minister after laying the foundation stone of the cultural auditorium. The event was attended by Mising Agom Kebang former president Dr. Bidyeswar Doley, officer of the cultural department, Pabitra Kumar Pegu along with other distinguished dignitaries.

Notably, Naba Kumar Doley inaugurated a total of 12 schemes worth Rs 25 crore at various places under Dhakuakhana subdivision on Sunday and Monday. These schemes will have to be implemented under SOPD(G)-2029-20, PMGSY in order to construct various roads in Dhakuakhana constituency. Lakhimpur Zila Parishad chairperson Manju Borgohain, Chief Executive Officer Pradip Chandra Doley also took part in the scheme inaugural programmes.
