MLA visits Umlapher in West Karbi Anglong districts

HAMREN: MLA Rupsing Teron visited Chinthong MAC Constituency -- under 20 No Baithalangso LAC in West Karbi Anglong District of Assam -- to review the ground situation following the ongoing tension between Assam and Meghalaya on the boundary.

MLA Teron met the Village Headman and senior citizens to discuss the matter. He informed them that talks between the governments of Assam and Meghalaya are. He also requested all the villagers not to panic and also to maintain peace and tranquility along the boundary areas.

Stating that a person of any community residing in West Karbi Anglong in Assam can stay in peace there or can also opt to shift to Meghalaya, Teron added, "However, even an inch of land won't be given or taken.

While visiting the Umlapher area, MLA Rupsing Teron met Additional SP Bolin Deori, and took stock of the situation in the inter-State boundary areas. He also directed the Addl. SP to ensure that peace and tranquility is maintained in the area.

The MLA also stated that to keep the situation under control, a request will be made on Monday to CM Himanta Biswa Sharma to immediately set up a permanent BOP at Umlapher as soon as possible.

Later he also participated in a public meeting held at the premises of Umlapher LP School.

He was accompanied by EM (Executive Member) of KAAC (Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council) Pradeep Rongpi, KAAC MAC D Uphing Maslai, BJP-WKAD president Radip Ronghang, and Board Chairmen of various departments.
