Mohan Maran elected president of Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha

DOOMDOOMA: Mohan Moran, an prominent writer hailing from Madhabpur (Bordumsa) village in Margherita Sub-division of Tinsukia District, was elected president of Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha (TZXX) for the next two years term. Moran, a former Secretary, TZXX and of reception committee of the 74th Buridihing-Bardumsa biennial conference of Assam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), recipient of district level distinguished teachers award, was elected by the election committee on Sunday. His only rival writer Lambeshwar Chetia of Panitola was defeated by a margin of only four votes.

On the other hand, the election Committee declared Dipen Kumar Bora of Digboi and Manjit Gohain of Tinsukia as the vice president and the secretary, respectively, of TZXX uncontested. These three office bearers were congratulated by the outgoing TZXX president Arjun Baruah. In the executive committee meeting held under his presidentship at Jugal Kishore Keshan Bhaban, Makum yesterday, the three member election committee headed by Dr. Girish Handique, Soumitra Gogoi and Gautam Barkataki (Advocate) opened the ballot boxes and announced the results of the election.
